Plastic Credit Project Consultancy

We provide end-to-end consultancy services for the design of plastic credit projects as financial assets that generate verifiable environmental outcomes, are converted into credits in accordance with international standards, and can be traded in voluntary markets.

What is a Plastic Credit?

Plastic credits are units representing measurable and verifiable environmental benefits generated through plastic waste collection, management, or recycling activities that go beyond business-as-usual practices. The objective is to provide additional financing for projects that prevent plastic waste from leaking into the environment or reintegrate it into the circular economy through recycling.

1 plastic credit equals 1 ton of plastic waste collected or recycled. Credits are generated on a project basis and are subject to monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) processes. Organizations can utilize these credits to offset their own plastic footprints or to support their voluntary sustainability commitments.

Who Can Generate Plastic Credits?

Plastic credit generation is available to project owners who meet specific technical and managerial criteria. These include:

  • Recycling facilities

  • Waste collection and sorting operations

  • Municipalities and public-private partnerships (PPP)

  • Social enterprises and cooperatives

  • Integrated waste management projects

  • Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)

The fundamental requirement is that the activities must create an additional environmental benefit and must be transparently traceable and reportable.

Where and By Whom Are Plastic Credits Used?

Plastic credits are predominantly utilized in voluntary markets. Companies purchase these credits to declare a measurable contribution to reducing plastic pollution. The most frequent stakeholders include Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), packaging-intensive sectors, personal care and pharmaceutical companies, plastic manufacturers, and retail companies.
